BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — An intoxicated Battle Creek man is in custody after he fled from a traffic stop and assaulted a Calhoun County deputy.
It happened just after 1 a.m. Wednesday on Battle Creek Avenue near Meachem Avenue.
Authorities attempted to pull the driver over, but he ran away, tried to get into a nearby house on Battle Creek Avenue, and then assaulted the deputy as he tried to arrest him.
The officer used a stun gun on the man but it was reportedly ineffective.
The 45-year-old suspect was taken to the Calhoun County Jail for resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and other charges.
