The Tigers yesterday claimed their third straight series with a 10-to-1 rout of the Athletics. Detroit took the final two games of the series after Oakland had won nine straight.
Austin Jackson went 4-for-6 with a two run homer and three RBI’s while Torii Hunter went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Tigers, who improved to 7-and-5.
Jackson’s second inning homer put Detroit up 4-to-0 and was more than enough run support for Tiger starter Anibal Sanchez, who struck out eight over seven innings of three-hit, one-run ball to improve to 2-and-0.
Detroit has the day off today before opening a 3-game series tomorrow night at Seattle.
The White Sox salvaged the finale of a 3-game series at Cleveland, beating the Indians 3-to-1 while the Cubs lost 10-to-7 in ten-innings to the Giants at Wrigley Field.
