RICHLAND, MI (WKZO) -- Former Richland Village Council President Jeff Heppler has one less job after the Council accepted his resignation this week.
Because he is also a County Commissioner and a police Chief in Augusta, and a Sergeant in Galesburg, he is subject to the incompatible public offices act. As long as none of his jobs had a contractual conflict he was okay, but when the Richland Board wanted to accept a grant for drunk driving enforcement, Heppler tells us he had no choice but to resign. He says being Village President was challenging but rewarding. His other jobs give him plenty to do.
