KENTWOOD, MI (WKZO) - Javonte Higgins, the suspect in a double-murder in west Michigan has been ordered to under-go a psychiatric exam after he reportedly smeared his own wastes on his face and refused to come out of his cell for a scheduled preliminary hearing yesterday. The hearing was delayed three hours, and for hygiene’s-sake, they used a video connection from the Jail.
As he did at his arraignment, Higgins again appeared to be awake but unaware of what was happening around him, drooling from the mouth, and not responding to the judge’s questions.
He is currently charged with a burglary and car theft in Wyoming. Higgins is the prime suspect in the killing of David and Vivian Bauman during an identical burglary in Kentwood, but those charges have not yet been filed.
