COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Suspicions that more and more ill people may be putting off seeing a doctor or delaying needed medical treatments for a variety of reasons are being validated by at least one Southwest Michigan ambulance firm.

Tim Miner, operations manager for Battle Creek based LifeCare Ambulance says they are seeing a trend in which the people their ambulances are picking up are much sicker and in his words, without a doubt, it’s clearly an issue. Miner told Branch County Commissioners yesterday a number of factors are in play although it’s tough to nail down one overriding cause for the procrastination to seek out health care, whether it’s a matter of affordability or a lack of knowledge that immediate treatment is called for, those two issues are at the forefront. LifeCare is the primary 911 provider in all or portions of 7 counties in Southwest Michigan.
