PORTAGE, MI (WKZO) --It will be back to the drawing board for Portage’s School Board. Their one and only finalist for School Superintendent have announced that he plans to stay in Brighton. Greg Gray made the announcement at last night’s Brighton School board meeting.
WHMI Radio reports that a packed house of 75 broke into cheers at the news. Gray says he has been consulting with colleagues, board members -and his family about taking the job in Portage, and his two young children, who are entering the 6th and 8th grades, said they preferred to stay in Brighton.
The move to Portage would have meant a substantial pay hike in a much wealthier and more prestigious but troubled school district.
