COLON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO) -- A one-car crash early Sunday morning in Colon Township that sent 5 young adults to the hospital remains under investigation.
At least one of the victims was hospitalized with critical head injuries after two were airlifted from the scene of the crash along Wattles Road near the Branch County Line in St. Joseph County.
Deputies say it appears the car may have been going too fast to navigate a curve, went off the road and struck a tree. At least one of the occupants, 18-year-old Samantha Carr was admitted in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to serious at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo . The victims ranged in age from 17 to 22.
Deputies believe that alcohol and speed were involved. Also on board 17-year-old Jadalyn Reichart, a pair of 18-year-olds; Tanner Cook and Taylor Farmer and 22-year-old Jesse Bowen.
