Prince Fielder blasted a three-run homer in the sixth, lifting the Tigers to a 4-3 win over the Twins last night in the opener of a 3-game series at Comerica Park. The fourth straight victory for Detroit moves them into first place in the American League Central with a 14-and-10 record and a half game lead over the Kansas City Royals. Max Scherzer lasted seven-and-a third innings while allowing three runs with ten strikeouts to improve to  3-and-0. Joaquin Benoit notched his second save.

Detroit ace Justin Verlander, who’s 2-and-2, gets the start tonight for the Tigers. The White Sox were idle Monday while the Cubs beat the Padres 5-3 last night at Wrigley Field.
