BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) - Qualifying is set for this afternoon at Michigan International Speedway for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400. The battle for a spot in the Sprint Cup Chase for the Cup championship is getting more intense with the regular season fast approaching its conclusion. After this weekend’s action in the Irish Hills, it’s on to Bristol and Atlanta before the regular season concludes on September 7th at Richmond. Points leader Jimmie Johnson became the first driver to clinch a spot in the Chase after last Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen. Johnson presently holds a 75-point advantage over second place Clint Bowyer, who along with third place driver Carl Edwards have an opportunity to clinch their positions in the Chase at MIS.
We’ll bring you a pair of races from the speedway in Brooklyn on the radio with both broadcasts beginning at noon starting with tomorrow’s Camping World Truck Series Michigan National Guard 200 and then Sunday’s feature Sprint Cup Pure Michigan 400.
