KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Commissioners have approved restrictions on digital billboards that are even tougher than those recommended by the Planning Commission.
They adopted a series of amendments that would increase the distance between the electronic signs to 25-hundred feet, change the minimum time any message can stay on the board from 8 to 10-seconds and reduced the luminosity.
They also banned electronic signs from being erected near the Veteran’s Memorial at Rose Park.
Mayor Bobby Hopewell says they tried to address the concerns of the community.
A spokesman for Adams Advertising says they will need a few days to analyze the changes.
