DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The first place Tigers had the day off Monday and it cost them a half game of their lead in the American League Central after second place Cleveland won last night out west over the Angels with the Indians now trailing Detroit by six-and-a-half games. The Tigers tonight open a 3-game series at home against the Twins beginning a stretch of when they play the next 16 straight days without a break. Rick Porcello will be out to stretch his winning streak to six in-a-row tonight when he goes to the mound against Minnesota. The Twins last night dropped their fourth straight in a 4-to-1 loss to the Mets at Target Field.
The Chicago White Sox were idle yesterday while the Cubs last night pounded Washington at Wrigley Field 11-to-1.
