KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- You may have been hearing about it in the news the last few days, sequestration has forced the Head Start Program to cut 47-thousand seats in the pre-school program nationwide.
That’s 22-hundred in Michigan and about three dozen seats in the Kalamazoo area. KRESA Pre-School Director Kristy Carambula says they have known about it since January, and suspects its making the news because its just about to impact people, and specifically very young children.
She says while they lost those pre-school seats, new state funding has added over 700-hundred new slots in the state’s Great Start program.
She says they still have slots available for 4-year olds and welcome any parent with a child of pre-school aged to inquire about the opportunity.
