UNDATED (WKZO) -- Saturday was a day to mark the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech in Washington, and different groups marked it in different ways around the country.

They estimate that a couple hundred thousand turned out for a rally near the King memorial on the Washington Mall.

In Kalamazoo, it was a day of service as hundreds of volunteers turned out at the Douglass Community Association to paint, do landscaping and make other repairs and improvements to the facility, which has fallen on tough financial times.

In Grand Rapids, hundreds marched on the offices of Congressman Justin Amash in support of Immigration reform, urging him to back a plan that will create a pathway to citizenship for immigrants, and keep families together.
