HASTINGS TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A Jackson motorcyclist may be lucky to be alive after he was found in a ditch about 12-hours after he crashed his bike in Barry County Saturday evening.
Deputies say it appears the 52-year-old was trying to make the turn at M-37 and M-79 went a little too wide and clipped a sign, which knocked him from his bike and into the ditch.
Unable to move, he lay there until a man, who lived in the area and noticed the sign had been bent, decided to investigate, and found the victim in the ditch the next morning.
The cyclist had a cell phone, but broken limbs kept him from reaching it.
He is listed in serious condition at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
If not for the curious passer-by, he might still be in the ditch.
