Jason Aldean , Luke Bryan , Florida Georgia Line and Kenny Chesney are among the stars singing Alabama songs with the legendary country group on the new album, Alabama & Friends , now in stores. When choosing artists for this project, Alabama wanted artists with a connection to the band or their music. The guys got to know Luke Bryan when he performed at their Bama Rising charity concert in Birmingham a few years back. Jason Aldean regularly wears vintage Alabama t-shirts on stage, and Toby Keith actually performed full-length Alabama albums with his band back in Oklahoma.
Toby shared that story with Alabama when they were in the studio recording "She and I." Alabama's Teddy Gentry says, "What a compliment from somebody like Toby to tell us how inspirational we were to him."
Alabama got bonding time with Rascal Flatts , Trisha Yearwood and Eli Young Band during the recording process, too.
"One thing this project did was give us an opportunity to sit down and have some quality time hanging out in a creative environment in the studio with these artists," Teddy explains. "You say, 'Hi,' at the awards shows. It's a quick, 'Hi, how you doing.' You never really get to know 'em."
He adds, "We're like a bunch of kids in a candy store as far as hanging out with all these other artists. It's been great. It's been a lot of fun.
Alabama & Friends features two new songs from Alabama, "That's How I Was Raised" and "All American." Jamey Johnson closes out the album with a cover of "My Home's in Alabama."
