DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Detroit Lions padded their lead in the NFC North without having to play Sunday thanks to the Vikings as Minnesota upset the Chicago Bears 23-20 yesterday in overtime. The Bears loss leaves them at 6-and-6 and a full game behind Detroit, which is 7-and-5 following their lopsided Thanksgiving Day victory over the Packers. The Lions also hold the tiebreaker with Chicago, as well as Green Bay, basically giving Detroit a 2-game division edge with four to play.
The Lions return to action Sunday on the road against the surging Philadelphia Eagles, who won their fourth in-a-row yesterday by beating the Cardinals.
Week 13 wraps up tonight with a major NFC showdown as 10-and-1 Seattle hosts the New Orleans Saints, who are 9-and-2. Yesterday’s big battle was in the AFC as Denver improved to 10-and-2 with their 35-28 win at Kansas City with the Chiefs dropping their third straight after a 9-and-0 start.
