LANSING (WKZO) -- Two Michigan lawmakers want to deregulate Road Kill.
Currently if you run some poor beast over and want to take it home and cook it, or stuff it and mount it or just give the poor creature a proper burial, you need to get it tagged by a DNR official or local police agency first.
Republican state Sens. Darwin Booher of Evart and John Pappageorge of Troy have proposed a bill that would allow the motorist to keep what they kill and take it home right away, as long as certain procedures are followed and a record is kept for the DNR.
It’s still just a proposal and could become legislative road kill too if people object, or consider how it might play in the national media.
