KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The holidays are supposed to be a happy time but they can also be a stressful time, and that goes double for those suffering from addiction.
Time crunches, financial pressures, travel problems and social obligations all that alcohol being served at holiday events.
It gives holiday spirits a new meaning and that can make the season especially tough on those in recovery.
Dr. C. Dennis Simpson, director of the WMU Specialty Program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse says a good therapy program will prepare their clients for times like these.
Simpson says a lot of the advice they give those in recovery is good advice for anyone who has trouble attaining a happy holiday season, think happy thoughts, find positive coping mechanisms and avoid resorting to bad habits.
