PORTAGE (WKZO) -- A portage teen is reported in fair condition this weekend recovering after spending a freezing night in the woods.
Family members say 16-year-old Marissa Barry had stopped taking her Medications for anxiety and depression, and was found clinging to a tree after spending a night in the woods outside in the freezing cold.
Two city water utility workers spotted that tree making some unusual movements and decided to investigate.
They found the girl about a mile from her home off Mary Lynn Court.
She was only partly coherent, barely able to stand up and suffering some symptoms of frostbite and exposure. She had been reported missing late Thursday.
Police say they doubt if she would have survived another night in the woods.
