GENEVA TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A Van Buren County man is sitting in the county lock-up, charged with getting drunk and assaulting his dresser with a shotgun Thursday afternoon.
Deputies say the 22-year-old had been drinking vodka, taking prescription medications and was upset with his father.
They say he retreated to his bedroom, began “hollering and screaming” and then blasted his dresser three times with a .20-gauge shotgun.
The slugs ripped through the dresser and out the side of the mobile home, in the 67-thousand block of 8th Avenue near South Haven.
No one was injured. He fled the scene, knowing that deputies were on their way. He left the shotgun behind.
He was stopped on C.R. 687 and arrested for use of a firearm while under the influence and driving drunk.
Deputies say he may face additional charges once the Prosecutor reviews the case file this coming week.
