UNDATED (WKZO) -- The sun came out yesterday and finally burned some of the ice off area roadways only to have snow fall again last night leaving another layer of ice on roadways for commuters to deal with this morning.
There has been a continuous stream of slide offs on I-94 and U.S. 131 since the snow began on Friday.
One of the latest was a semi that went off the Interstate near Galesburg early Tuesday morning in what is known as the Devil’s triangle.
One of the worst crashes sent three to the hospital Monday afternoon when a Metro Transit van rear-ended a car from Ohio on U.S. 131, after the car slowed for an earlier crash.
The driver of the van was admitted for injuries, and two of his elderly passengers in their 70’s were admitted for observation. The Ohio man was not injured.
Kalamazoo County Road Boss Joanna Johnson says they were just getting around to cleaning rural neighborhoods after this weekend’s snow storm, when the snow began falling again last night. She says they spent the weekends cleaning and recleaning primary roads,
She says they hope the Budget for this year’s winter plowing operations holds out the next two weeks.
The whole cycle may begin all over again this afternoon, when another when 1 to 3 inches is expected to fall.
