DEARBORN (WKZO) -- This year’s official holiday travel period is underway and AAA of Michigan is predicting it will be a record breaker with 94.5-million Americans hitting the road for the week long period.
That includes an estimated two-point-nine-million Michigan residents.
Spokeswoman Heather Hunter says that nothing is likely to stop them, not even this weekend’s predicted Ice Storm in mid-Michigan.
She says people will simply reschedule, and either leave before it hits, or leave afterwards. She says less than 8% will travel by public or commercial transportation.
This year’s Christmas holiday period for travel is December 21st to January 1st.
