TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) - For 42 years, a Marshall area man kept a letter from a fellow Vietnam veteran tucked away with the rest of his military papers. During those four decades, the two lost touch. But when Jennifer Owens of Tekonsha discovered the letter at her father’s house, she went on a mission to find that fellow vet. Using clues from the letter, Facebook, and other internet resources, she was able to track down 63-year-old Willie Bradford in Ft Worth, Texas.
Owens’ father, Joe Stevens of Marshall, was stationed with Bradford for three months in Vietnam. Stevens is now battling a terminal diagnosis for prostate and bone cancer. She says reconnecting with the fellow vet who wrote him the four page letter has meant a lot at the holidays
Bradford told us he was skeptical at first when he was contacted by Owens, but now calls her “an angel” for helping her father reconnect the two after so many years.
