COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Gasoline prices that went up a little the weekend before Christmas have really taken a leap as we head towards the New Year. Remember just a week ago gas stations had finally dropped below $3 a gallon at some locations in Southwest Michigan and around $3.05 a gallon in the Coldwater area.
Today at a growing number of stations, it will cost motorists closer to $3.50 a gallon. GasBuddy analyst Patrick Dehaan says we can blame a spike in the price of crude oil which is nearly $100 a barrel, and refinery issues in the Midwest. He expects the prices to drop rapidly after the new year and he thinks 2014 will be a better year than 2013 on fuel prices.
