KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The 28th annual New Years Fest starts in Bronson Park as it does every New Years Eve at 5:30 with Tuba New Year, an all tuba band performing in it its own unique style on the Rotary stage.
On the other side of the park in the big tent, family and children’s events, and in venues all around the park, dozens of acts will provide multiple performances, and continue through the evening.
They have three tribute bands this year, an all-cello ensemble, the Kalamazoo Big Band and several others and there are a number of novelty acts, comedians, jugglers and a yoyo master, and a guy that performs amazing sound effects using only his mouth and a microphone.
Organizer Deb Droppers says it’s a good idea to dress in layers so you can pick the appropriate combination for indoor and outdoor settings.
Temperatures may be in the teens but the venues are well heated.
She says it all concludes at Midnight, with the fireworks which is even better since they moved their launch site to the Epic Center Parking Ramp.
Buttons that will get you into all the venues are $5 at Harding Stores today and in the park they will be $10 before the event.
