It Looks Like A Major Embezzlement Case Is Coming To A Conclusion.
It was first alleged that Christopher Pratt of Portage had embezzled 6.5-million dollars out of the Village Market Grocery chain last May. Now Pratt has finally been formally charged in federal court with the crimes. He is reportedly expected to plead guilty, suggesting the last 8 months have been spent working on a plea bargain.
They claim that Pratt, as comptroller of the South Haven based grocery chain, spent 8-years siphoning the money from the company’s accounts. They claim he used the money to fund an extravagant lifestyle, complete with a collection of 50-muscle cars.
