CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO) -- A Burlington woman’s ordeal will continue for now. There was some hope that the new prosecutor in Calhoun County might veer from the path of his predecessor and drop the case against Lorinda Swain, who was convicted on testimony and evidence that has now been shown to be either lies, and that evidence that might exonerate her was omitted or covered up.
Calhoun County Judge Conrad Sindt has ruled twice that she deserved a new trial, and prosecutors have appealed that decision. New Prosecutor David Gilbert has filed his own appeal, further delaying a conclusion to the case.
