QUINCY, MI (WTVB) - Severe weather remains the greatest public threat in Branch County above everything else and yesterday, Quincy area public safety, government, school, health, and industry representatives gathered for a seminar with a tabletop exercise on a simulated disaster and what the local response might be if the village was the scene of destruction from a tornado touchdown. The event was presented by Branch County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Miner. His agenda included not asking anyone in attendance to have come with advance research or prepared comments and organized notes. In Miner’s words, he wanted everyone to be ready to expound on just what was in their head at the time with spontaneous reaction on what they know and don’t know of any plans currently in place or in the works. Miner also suggested the seminar was designed to fail in the respect that minus a good outcome, so to speak, it will allow for the identification of shortfalls and an opportunity to train on such problem areas
