WASHINGTON (WKZO) -- President Obama is scheduled to speak next week at the unveiling of a statue of Rosa Parks at the U.S. Capitol.

The tribute to the civil rights icon will be cast in bronze on a black granite pedestal.  This is the first full-sized statue in the Capitol to honor an African-American woman.

Parks lived in Detroit from 1957 until her death in 2005.
