LANSING (WKZO) -- Former Michigan Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway is scheduled to appear in federal court January 29th on a bank fraud charge.
Hathaway is accused of concealing ownership of a home in Florida, while claiming she and her husband Michael Kingsley had financial hardship so a bank would approve a short sale of a home in Grosse Pointe Park. According to federal prosecutors, ownership of the property in Florida was transferred to a relative and not listed as an asset when the couple was seeking the short sale.
Kingsley has not been charged and Hathaway retired from the court on Monday.
