WEST MICHIGAN (WKZO) -- There have been hundreds of slide-offs in west Michigan since this cold front blew in over Lake Michigan on Sunday and it isn’t over yet.
Dispatchers say roads are snow covered and treacherous because of the sub zero wind chills and blowing snow. Police agencies are telling commuters to take it slow and keep their distance.
Roads remain ice covered and slippery for the most part and will remain that way until temperatures warm up this weekend,
I-94 in both directions was shut down for some time just west of the U.S. 131-interchange late last night when two semi’s collided and jackknifed in the westbound lanes and sent concrete from the center barrier into the East bound lanes, where two cars struck the debris. It happened just after 10 p.m. The Interstate has since reopened. Fortunately, there were no reports of any serious injuries.
