AUBURN HILLS (WKZO) -- Chrysler Group LLC has eliminated a shift at its Dundee Engine Plant which produces Fiat FIRE engines.
The four-cylinder engine powers the Fiat 500 and the new Dodge Dart, but while sales of the Fiat have risen, Dart sales have been flat. The company says new powertrains are coming out for the Dart after many reviewers complained the vehicle doesn't have enough power.
Officials with the automaker say 14 probationary employees have been let go and over 40 other workers from the shift have been reassigned to other jobs.
