KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's office is charging 19-year-old Fred Glespie with one count of second degree child abuse in the Interfaith Apartment fire that killed three toddlers on February 14th.

That was the original charge that had been sought by Public Safety against 26-year-old Jonetta Woods but was rejected by the Prosecutor’s office.

Glespie is the ex-boyfriend that Woods claimed she left with the children that morning. A claim he has subsequently and repeatedly denied.

Prosecutor Jeff Getting is refusing to comment on the case to protect the rights of all involved.

2nd Degree Child Abuse is a 10-year-felony.

Glespie is in custody and due to be arraigned on Tuesday.
