DETROIT (WKZO) -- Jack Martin is the new Emergency Manager for the Detroit Public Schools. Monday morning he was formally introduced by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.
Martin replaces Roy Roberts who served two years in the post. Martin said a goal is to make sure graduates are prepared to enter college or the workforce when they graduate. He noted many students that received a diploma in the past read at an eighth grade level or lower.
Snyder praised Martin's ability to solve problems and his management skills. Martin is the current Chief Financial Officer for the City of Detroit and once served as the Emergency Manager for the Highland Park public schools.
