ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) - A fiery one car crash early Monday southwest of Angola took the life of the driver of the vehicle. The Steuben County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department said the accident occurred around 3:45 in the morning south of Golden Lake. According to investigators, the S-U-V slammed into a cement post and a tree before catching fire. It happened near the intersection of County Roads 400 West and South. Upon arrival, firefighters and first responders found the car fully engulfed in flames.
Dental records were used to identify the victim and last night, the county coroner said the driver was 30-year old Eric Matthew Vaughan of rural Angola. The Sheriff’s Department said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
