HOLLAND, MI (WTVB) - A heart-wrenching tragedy for a West Michigan family. A post mortem is planned on a 34-year-old man who jumped from a boat off the shore of Lake Michigan and drowned south of Holland in Allegan County and it happened despite the heroic efforts of his 6-year-old daughter to drag him to shore.
Nathan John Luna of Holland made the dive late yesterday afternoon in about three feet of water. It’s not clear if he hit bottom or had some other problem but he was not responsive when he was pulled to shore on a private beach. His family began CPR and Emergency Responders took over and continued attempts to revive him but he had no heartbeat when he arrived at Holland Hospital and was pronounced dead about an hour and a half after the fatal dive.
