KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Friday night’s stormy weather and the resulting power outages are being blamed for at least one death.

Kalamazoo County Deputies say a 74-year-old man riding a moped at Stadium Drive and 11th St. in Oshtemo was struck by an eastbound vehicle driving by a Kalamazoo woman.

Deputies say the signal was not working at the time because of a storm related power outage.

The victim was still alive when they rushed him to the hospital, but died later.

The crash remains under investigation to determine who had the right of way, and whether the intersection was being treated as a four-way stop.

\They don’t believe alcohol was a factor.
