KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Mayors of Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo spent two days this week enjoying beer. After all they are the #1 and #2 Beer Cities U.S.A.
They spent one day in Grand Rapids the other in Kalamazoo, sampling craft beer flavors and visiting breweries, all to publicize that beer has become more than just a social lubricant and a good time in the two communities, its become a tax payer, a jobs provider and tourist attraction.
George Heartwell and Bobby Hopewell say it’s given them something to brag about.
They stopped by the Festival Park to sample some local craft beers, hiked down to Bells for a tour and then walked down to look at the construction site near the river where Arcadia Beer is building a brewery and restaurant.
