COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Community Health Center of Branch County continues to show a profit on the books for the year halfway through 2013, but that’s no thanks to the bottom line for the month of June. At last night’s monthly meeting of the hospital’s Board of Trustees, it was reported that June saw a net income loss of $173,000. However, for the first six months of the year, CHC had an overall profit of $304,000. Still, that’s $1.4 million dollars less than what planners had budgeted for.
The inside story on the numbers indicates admissions and observations were down slightly from a year ago while behavioral health admissions are up over the same period. Births are also up over the last year. Emergency room visits declined slightly compared to last year. Both inpatient and outpatient surgeries are down versus a year ago and they don’t appear to be in any one category or specialty but are pretty much across the board.
