KALAMAZOO (WKZO) --Judy Sarkozy had been waiting a long time for this.
Her brand new oven, purchased second hand from a bakery in Minnesota arrived by semi yesterday, and with the help of heavy equipment, and what she called “brute force and common sense”, rolled it into the building thru a hole knocked in a back wall of the Columbia Plaza.
It weighs about 13-thousand pounds and cost 50-thousand dollars used. She says it will bake 300 loaves at a time and do so reliably and efficiently.
Its about the size of a large SUV only wider.
She plans to reopen Sarkozy’s Bakery in phases, producing bread for local stores by late September, then opening up the front counter and the restaurant as they get the space remodeled.
