LANSING (WKZO) -- Republican Congressman Dave Camp from Midland tells political reporting web site Politico that he's considering a run for Senate next year.  He says he's already talked it over with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, but still has yet to make a decision or even map out a rough timeline of any possible course of action.

Should Camp run, he would face former Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land in the primary race, as she is so far the only Republican to officially declare that she will seek the office.  So far, the only Democratic candidate in the race is Congressman Gary Peters, who is expected at this to run uncontested in his party's primary race.

The seat is being left vacant by retiring Senator Carl Levin, who has held the office since 1979.
