KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Officials from the Kalamazoo Humane Society and the County Animal Shelter have been talking about collaborating on a new home for both organizations for years now and it finally looks like it might happen.
The Humane Society has found an old industrial building at 480 Commercial Avenue that can be converted into combined offices for their organization and a large section of it leased to the County for their Animal Control Department.
There would be space for veterinary care and all the things that are currently lacking at the Lake Street facility.
They informed the County Board this week that it would cost half as much to collaborate on a solution, than to build new themselves.
County Commissioners will consider the offer at their next meeting.
