Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Doug Fister, who gave up just one run, two hits, and struck out 10 in 8 innings, as the Tigers defeated the LA Angels 7-1 on Wednesday, July 17, 2012.

The Tigers ran into a hot team last night in Kansas City where the Royals won their sixth straight game with a 3-to-2 victory over Detroit. Miguel Cabrera had a 2-run homer for the Tigers in the top of the second but the Royals answered right away with 3 runs in the bottom of the frame with the deciding run scoring on an infield single.

Doug Fister pitched a complete game for Detroit, scattering nine hits with his record slipping to 5-and-4. The Tigers left 8 runners on base as their four game winning streak ended. Unbeaten Max Scherzer, who is 8-and-0, will take to the mound tonight for Detroit in game 2 of the 3-game series against the Royals. The first place Tigers have a 5-and-a-half game lead in the American League Central over the Royals and the Indians, who dropped their eighth in-a-row last night, losing at Texas.

The White Sox beat the Blue Jays 10-to-6 Monday night in Chicago while the Cubs fell 6-to-2 to the Reds at Wrigley Field.
