Bronson area man badly hurt, but survives collision of two pick-up trucks in Bethel Township

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) - It didn’t look good for a Bronson man yesterday when police and fire first responders reached the scene of a nasty collision between two pickup trucks in Bethel Township. 66-year old John Cary was found trapped under his truck which ended up on its side after being rammed by the other pickup which Branch County deputies said ran the stop sign on Central Road before striking Cary’s truck. He was northbound on Block Road while 60-year old John Wannemacher of Fremont, Indiana was westbound on Central just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Lakeland Fire Department first responders helped free Cary from the wreckage. He was flown from the scene by Good Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne, where today he’s listed in fair condition. Wannemacher suffered very minor injuries. The preliminary investigation does not show alcohol to be a factor in the accident.
