Hunter Hayes may sing about wanting a fun, messy relationship in his latest single, "I Want Crazy," but he can't really fly by the seat of his pants that much due to his hectic work schedule. Hunter is constantly on the road or in the studio working on project like his Hunter Hayes (Encore) album, due out next week.
When asked if he likes things in his life planned out or controlled, Hunter tells ABC News Radio with a laugh, "Mostly controlled, clearly, looking at my musical path there!"
Hunter manages to sneak in a little fun on the road though. He confesses he misses a lot of sleep hanging out with his band mates at the front of the bus after shows.
Says Hunter, "I don't wanna miss whatever's gonna happen. Whatever stories they're going to tell tomorrow, I want to be there when it happens, you know?"
No matter how much sleep Hunter misses between shows, you can bet he'll be ready to rock when he hits the stage. In fact, Hunter prides himself on being ready to tackle any situation in his professional life.
He explains, "I like to be prepared. I don't like to walk into a situation not knowing what I'm doing, you know what I mean?"
Hunter and his fans will get a little crazy at his show at New York City's Webster Hall on June 18, the day Hunter Hayes (Encore) comes out.
