VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO) -- Consumers Energy is dealing with new outages that occurred early Sunday Morning in Southern Allegan County and another outage just east of Middleville that occured Sunday afternoon.
Indiana and Michigan Electric says they should have power restored to everyone, including homes near rural Bloomingdale by Sunday evening. They say it could take more than a week to restore power to 133 customers with homes that sit right on Lake Michigan that are built in a sensitive dune area between Blue Star Highway and the Lakeshore near the Berrien County border..
They can only be reached by narrow winding gravel fire lanes, and because of the environmental regulations, repair crews can’t take their trucks into the area.
They will have to carry all their supplies and equipment into the dunes using other methods. They say it could take more than a week to complete the work and restore power to all these customers.
