KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo’s Noise Ordinance Task force has taken more testimony and its chairman, Grant Fletcher says the next time they convene on July 8th, it may be time to start voting on recommendation to the City Commission.
They heard yesterday from people who own apartments near the Festival site who want noise and time limits. They have a dozen specific recommendations and restrictions.
They also heard from downtown club owners who say any restrictions on festivals would also apply to them, and they don't want any rules.
At issue are noise complaints and whether festivals, which can now run to 1:30 in the morning, should be required to shut down earlier, required to dial down the volume, be left alone or some combination.
