COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Kindergarten enrollment is up 15% in the Coldwater School District. School officials say earlier in the spring, Max Larsen and Lincoln Elementary Schools hosted kindergarten registration, and teachers enrolled 192 students, an increase of 29 students from last year. Dixie Koenemann, Executive Director of Special Programs and Student Improvement said the district is monitoring the numbers closely and will hire more teachers if necessary to accommodate the increasing enrollment. Koenemann called it an exciting time for growth in the district.
Enrollment will continue at Max Larsen Elementary for children who will be five years old on or before November First. In the bigger picture, the Coldwater School Board heard at its special budget meeting Monday night that overall across the district, it’s projected that enrollment will be down by 52 students for the coming academic year.
