DETROIT, MI (WKZO) - The Los Angeles Angels have not been having the season they have hoped for, but they are enjoying their time playing the Tigers. Detroit fell again to the Angels, this time dropping a 7-4 defeat on Wednesday night at Comerica Park. The Tigers have now lost all five games to the Angels this season and have lost eight in a row going back to last season.
Detroit took a 2-0 lead on back to back home runs from Torii Hunter and Miguel Cabrera in the first inning. That lead held until the third inning when Mike Trout tied the game with a two run home run. The Tigers reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third on a Prince Fielder sacrifice fly, but the Angels would strike back in a big way starting in the sixth inning. With two outs and a man on, Tigers’ starter Jose Alvarez was just trying to finish off the inning when Erick Aybar hit a two run home run to give Los Angeles their first lead of the game. They put the game out of reach in the seventh inning when they added three more runs.
Detroit will try to win one game in the series on Thursday afternoon at 1:05. Jared Weaver will make the start for Los Angeles which is his first start in Detroit since his infamous blow up at Comerica Park in 2011. Detroit will counter will Doug Fister.
