EAST LANSING (WKZO) -- New Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Lon Johnson is not happy with the idea of an emergency financial manager being appointed for Detroit. Democrats have been opposing EFMs in cities like Benton Harbor and Flint, and Johnson said the party is planning to fight what he called a "hostile takeover" on the public television show "Off The Record." Johnson said he and Governor Snyder agree that Detroit has big problems, but says a partnership between city leaders and the state is his preferred way forward.
